Morning Scoop: Another Kind of Healthy Breakfast






Sarapan pagi... ehm bentar deh.. lagi mikir kenapa nyebutnya sarapan pagi? Bukankah sarapan itu otomatis menunjukkan waktu pagi hari ya? (emang ada sarapan malam?) Jadi mana nih yang benar, sarapan aja? atau sarapan pagi?? hmm... hmm... *slow loading* hehe nah ini nih salah satu akibatnya kalau kita mengabaikan yang namanya sarapan. Jadi sulit konsentrasi untuk berpikir karena energinya untuk otak kurang terisi. Sarapan bukan hanya sekedar mengisi perut tapi juga 'mengisi energi otak' jadi ternyata penting sekali kebutuhan ini. Walau terkadang maklum karena kesibukan dan jam yang padat, banyak yang akhirnya tak sempat menyiapkan atau makan sekedarnya dengan apa saja yang ada. Bukan hal yang buruk, bersyukur bahwa masih bisa sarapan sebenarnya juga sudah mengisi otak dengan energi positif. Lebih-lebih kalau (dan mau) memiliki waktu untuk memilih bahan dan mengolahnya sendiri. Sarapan sehat, why not?! Double lagi sehatnya. Kenapa? Selain bisa mengolah bahan yang disukai juga tahu kualitas yang dipergunakan, otak dan indera juga menikmati rangsangan bau atau aroma yang muncul saat mengolahnya, yang artinya melatih otak dan indera agar tetap aktif. Hmm jadinya nggak gampang pikun ya. Misalnya sayuran segar yang dipakai, coba deh bayangkan aroma seledri atau lemon atau tumisan bawang.. hmm menaikkan selera dan semangat ya.

Aku percaya makanan mampu menyalurkan energi apalagi makanan sehat. Nah, pertanyaannya, sarapan sehat  itu seperti apa? Sebenarnya tidak ada patokan jelas walau tak bisa disangkal kalau bahan yang segar sudah pasti nilai gizinya jauh lebih tinggi, yang artinya lebih banyak yang bisa diserap tubuh. Kemudian cara pengolahannya (percuma juga kan kalau merebus segarnya sayuran hijau sampai lumer) dan portion/size, ya, ingat, ini sarapan bukan makan besar sampai kenyang jadi sebaiknya cukup (simple aja, kekenyangan berarti ngantuk). Jadi dalam pengolahannya bebas, mau ala Western atau Asian dengan tentu saja ada perbandingan porsi yang baik (simple aja, berlebih tidak selalu baik begitu juga kurang). Kalau untuk orang Indonesia sendiri, pasti tahu betapa variatif nya menu Indonesia yang dimulai dengan nasi, dimulai yang simple seperti nasi goreng (ada yang ingat nasi goreng merk margarin yang iklannya masih nongol sampai sekarang? atau menu nasi goreng vegan ini bisa jadi alternatif) sampai nasi pecel, nasi urap, nasi campur, nasi kuning, nasi soto sampai bubur segala macam ada. Apakah bisa dibilang sehat? Bisa iya bisa nggak. Sehatnya, sebagaimana menu Indonesia yang kaya rempah, otak diajak repot untuk mencium wanginya rempah-rempah, ehm... dan sedikit repotnya menyiapkan itu semua hehe.. Kalau sarapan ala menu Indonesia maknyuss, ala Western yang biasa disajikan di hotel-hotel berbintang juga sama. Tanpa nasi ditambah seasoning yang sederhana menjadikannya terdengar lebih sehat. Mempersiapkannya juga terasa lebih mudah dan cepat. Walaupun merepotkan, mengolah sarapan sendiri bisa jadi hal yang menyenangkan, bisa memakai bahan-bahan yang lebih disukai, mau dibuat apa dan berapa banyak juga terserah. Hal semacam itu saja sudah menambah energi positif untuk otak lho. Karena ketika mengolahnya, entah dibikin salad atau berkuah, melatih indra tubuh menikmati aroma, suara dan warna. Sekali lagi coba bayangkan renyahnya suara wortel atau onion yang dipotong, daun bayam yang dipetik dari tangkainya atau wangi bawang bombai yang menusuk mata sampai desis daging yang ditumis atau kilaunya warna kentang yang dipanggang dalam oven. Hmm.. Pastinya, itu energi yang menambah semangat untuk menyambut pagi :)

Having a breakfast is a must. It's not just about you eat something to fill the stomach, but it's also give you important energy that also used for brain. I'm grateful, hope you are too, to able have had a breakfast through the tough routines, super business schedules or challenging times in every morning. Believe or not, it's kind of filling the brain with  positive energy and I believe food is can share good energy more than just be eaten. And spent some time to do homemade is a good thing, letting our mind, brain and the senses to wide awake and keep trained, keep them active and kept young. Can you imagined how sensuous the color of fresh carrot, bits, red fish or green vegetables, the crackling sound of crispy potatoes, bread and the sizzle of fried meat and sauteed garlic, the hitting smell of onion, the gentle smell of cinnamon? Nah, that's sounds like a morning festival, in a modest way, and a healthy breakfast. Hmm...why not?!

So, what to point of healthy breakfast? Fresh ingredients? eaten raw? (hey yeah edible, of course) easy in processing, and oh an exact portion? I can't even to assume which one is the best because all have the benefit. Fresh ingredients, of course the flavor is more tasteful and definitely higher nutritional value. Easy and simple processing means that you must do exact treatment to gain the best achievement, well that doesn't always mean eaten raw, because we sure know there's lot of cooking style and that's the beauty. And have an exact portion, in size, since it's breakfast. While for Indonesian people, themselves had lot of variants and mostly dishes with cooked rice. From a simple fried rice with omelette on top (or butter, as it advertised so famous from a specific brand, or you can try this vegan version from me) into kind such Chicken Porridge, Nasi Campur, Nasi Urap, Nasi Pecel, Nasi Kuning, Nasi Soto and so on. As you know, Indonesian people mostly loves to eat cooked rice and frankly, there's a certain thought that not yet feeling full if not eating that. Is it  arguably healthy? Maybe, although it's yummy for sure as well as Indonesian dishes really rich on spice and sometimes hard to stop until you realize you're full. That's why I mentioned about an exact portion. Like a wise monk have said, enough are good and good means to have enough, beside I don't want falling sleepy and knotted by laziness effect. After all, good breakfast should refresh you. 


Instead using plain bread, I prefer to eat salty or sweet bread, so this is Caramel bread (not too sweet and very sure available in many bakery shop). Love the thickness. Love the shape. Love the size. The double others are: tomato, Asian shallot, avocado, basil, 10 minutes boiled eggs, 1 minute roasted asparagus seasoned in sprinkle sea salt, black pepper and herbs combined with lemon vinegar and olive oil. Fried Milkfish with crispy skin and with sambal for savory side dishes, and fresh mango for sweet side dishes. Matcha tea for drink.
